Kardamena on the south coast of Kos: a long sandy beach that stays calm when the wind blows, ancient Alasarna, the day trip to Nisyros volcano, and our rental office.
Kardamena sits on the south coast of Kos, 10 km from the airport and 30 km from Kos Town. It was founded in 1865 by families from Antimachia, on the site of the ancient city of Alasarna, where excavations found a sanctuary of Apollo, a theatre and Roman buildings.
What used to be a fishing village is now one of the liveliest resorts on the island, with a long sandy beach that runs for kilometres in both directions. Because it faces south, the sea here stays calm even on days when the north wind closes the beaches on the other side of Kos.
From the harbour, boats leave for Nisyros, the volcanic island across the water. You can walk inside the crater, feel the heat and smell the sulphur. It's the best day trip you can do from here.
Our office is on the main street of Kardamena. Walk in, or ask us to bring the vehicle to your hotel.
